Network Louth hosted a successful training session for female entrepreneurs this week in the d Hotel, Drogheda.
The network is a voluntary business networking organisation, tailored to support the needs of women in business (or starting out in business) in the Louth region.
The personal development session, was energetically entitled ‘How to Jump out of Bed In 2009’ and featured guest trainer Sinead Duffy of ‘Great Minds’ consultancy, specialists in empowering individuals to achieve at a higher level.
Over twenty women from a range of industries attended and found the event ‘valuable’ and ‘encouraging’. On the night Sinead tackled issues relating to challenge management, adapting to change, learning to think creatively and maintain business focus.
Network Louth President Sinead Sarsfield commented: “Sinead combines years of experience in training with a business management background and I’m delighted that the Network could bring someone of her calibre to inspire business women in the area.
“This is the first of a number of monthly sessions in 2009 for women interested in business or already in business and I’d welcome guests to attend and enjoy the social and business benefits of being affiliated with Network Louth.”
Ronan Dennedy of Louth County Enterprise Board added: “The Enterprise Board is delighted to support the network in delivering these kinds of events as part of our commitment to the women in Enterprise Initiative. I would hope the membership and influence of the network continues to grow with each of these events tailored to supporting and inspiring women in business.”
Next month’s event - part of Louth Enterprise Week - is the Cross Border Business Lunch to celebrate International Women’s Day which will take place on Thursday 5th March in the Carrickdale Hotel, Dundalk.

Event Notice - Celebration of International Women's Day 2009
Theme: CROSS BORDER BUSINESS WOMEN CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY WITH AUTHOR SHEILA O’FLANAGAN
When: Thursday 5th March, 12 Noon
Where: Carrickdale Hotel, Ravensdale, Co. Louth.
Details: Business women from County Louth will be joined by female entrepreneurs from Armagh and Down to celebrate International Women’s Day 2009 on 5th March at a special luncheon in the Carrickdale Hotel with best selling author Shelia O’Flanagan.
The event, organised by Network Louth and Louth County Enterprise Board in partnership with the Enterprising Women’s Network (Armagh and Down), will follow on from the success of last year’s business luncheon in Newry which attracted over 200 guests. This year the luncheon is sponsored by Enterprising Women’s Network members Bank of Ireland, Prestige Employment Solutions and Younique Clinic, College & Spa.
Attendees will enjoy an insight into the career of guest speaker Sheila O’Flanagan, a former high flyer in the world of finance who is now one of Ireland’s best selling fiction writers. Female entrepreneurs will also have the opportunity to network on a cross border level and develop key contacts during the event.
Event Coordinator Margaret Andrews says:
“We expect great support for this business event as Sheila is an engaging and entertaining speaker. We know her name through her fiction but Shelia’s route to fame is an unusual one, having started her career as banker and chief dealer in Dublin’s financial centre. She was also the first woman to head up a bank trading desk in Dublin.
“She wrote her first book in her thirties and was offered a contract with an Irish publisher which prompted her to give up her job in banking, but she remains a regular financial columnist with the Irish Times.”
Sheila books include ‘Connections’, ‘Anyone but Him’ and most recently ‘Someone Special’ - all best sellers in the UK and Ireland.
Sheila will be giving an insight into her career path to members of the Enterprising Women’s Network and guests the lunch event on 5th March 2009, at the Carrickdale Hotel, Ravensdale.
Cost is €30 for network members, €40 for guests. Corporate tables available from €325.
