Women in Business Celebrate International Women's Day with Sheila O'Flanagan
Over one hundred women in business from Louth, Armagh and Down attended a special event today (5th March) to celebrate, support and inspire each other as part of International Women’s Day 2009.
Special guest, best selling author Sheila O’Flanagan attended the event which was organised by the Enterprising Women’s Network (funded by Invest Northern Ireland) in partnership with Network Louth and Louth County Enterprise Board.

The luncheon was sponsored by EWN members Bank of Ireland, Prestige Employment Solutions and Younique Clinic, College & Spa.
Attendees gained an entertaining insight into the career of guest speaker Sheila O’Flanagan, a former high flyer in the world of finance who has become Ireland’s best selling fiction writer.
Speaking to the audience Shelia urged women to aim high and feel confidence in pursing their business aims. “You don’t get everything right straight away. Mistakes are simply the building blocks of experience,” she added.
Female entrepreneurs also had time to network on a cross border level and develop key contacts.
Event Coordinator Margaret Andrews said:
“We’re delighted with the support for our third International Women’s Day event and the feedback from women has been very positive. As well as an opportunity to celebrate achievement and inspire each other, this event has also enabled cross border networking opportunities and I would hope will generate some new business links for the female entrepreneurs here today.”
